Stevenage Borough extended their unbeaten run to seven games with a comfortable 3-1 victory at Telford United.

The visitors started brightly and Steve Watson went close before Graham Westley's men took the lead on 12 minutes.

A precision move saw Anthony Elding combine with Watson who squared the ball for Tony Battersby who had the easiest of tasks to tap into an empty net from close range.

Boro continued to dominate up until half time and Elding and Danny Carroll both missed good opportunities to extend their lead.

Telford were very quiet in the opening period, with only David Brown and Jordan King forcing comfortable saves from Stevenage keeper Mark Westhead, but the home side improved after the break.

Paul Moore hit a 20-yard shot over the bar while Brown had a big shout for a penalty turned down when he appeared to be dragged down by Nathan Bunce.

So it was against the run of play when Stevenage extended their lead on 73 minutes when Jamie Cook hit a powerful swerving 25-yard free-kick past the helpless Edwards.

Substitute Dino Maamria missed a golden opportunity to put the result beyond doubt when he headed a Simon Travis cross wide when he was unmarked eight yards out, but Telford set up a grandstand finish when Brown hooked home a goal when Martin Barlow's corner was only half cleared.

But any hopes of a comeback were shattered late on when Elding sealed the victory in injury time by calmly slotting past Edwards after an excellent through ball from Simon Wormull.
