Stevenage Borough kept their play-off hopes alive with this hard fought win over Conference form team Crawley Town.
Indeed for much of this game it looked as if Stevenage were going to rue a host of missed chances, as Crawley found an equaliser and proved very hard to break down.
Stevenage began the game in impressive style and took the lead with the first chance of the game after just three minutes.
Adam Miller was the man with the flick header which found Jefferson Louis just inside the Crawley box and the Stevenage striker made no mistake as he fired in on the half volley across goal.
Stevenage had further chances when Louis saw an effort tipped over by keeper Phil Smith, while both George Boyd and Ollie Berquez both narrowly failed to hit the target.
On the 20-minute mark Crawley enjoyed a dangerous spell of pressure and after two corners and having penned Stevenage in their own half, they grabbed an equaliser when Danny Ekoku took advantage of a Luke Oliver blunder to nip in and fire past Alan Julian.
Stevenage looked for a way back into the contest with Dino Maamria failing to force home from close range, while Louis forced a stunning save from Smith following a neat turn and shot.
Crawley had the first chance of the second half when Lee Blackburn fired at Julien from close range, but it was Stevenage who were looking for the winner.
They got the decisive second with just ten minutes to go when Louis bagged his second as he sneaked in unmarked at the far post to head in following a long throw to the box.
Darryn Stamp saw a header from a corner cleared off the line from Danny Brown in added time, but by then Boro had already claimed three precious points.
